My take on current topics in racing........

4/17/06-Wow, I'm doing a great job of falling behind! Ash and I had a BLAST at Texas Motor Speedway! About half way he looked at me and said, "Daddy, I wanna go home." I was really surprised he made it that long! Well, after about 20 more minutes of shopping and another 20-25 to find the car, we were on our way home. That day was one of those memories that will stay with me (and hopefully him as well) forever. Dale Earnhardt Jr. continues to make strides with the new team. I get the strange feeling something big will happen for him at Talladega (and I'm not talking about "the big one"). Jeff Burton continues to prove that the "old guys" aren't washed up as some may think! It was great to see Dennis Setzer get a win for BHR at Martinsville in the Truck Series. That was long overdue for that organization. I'm sure Bobby was looking down and smiling! I really hope things start to tighten up in the Nationwide Series. It seems like once again, the Cup drivers are going to run away with it. Maybe some good things will come out of Mexico City this Sunday. I'd really like to see someone like Boris Said or Adrian Fernandez take home the trophy!

Until next time,

Jason

3/26/08-Ahh, another great week of racing has come and gone. Big congrats to Jeff Burton and the entire 31 crew. RCR wasn't done after sweeping Bristol (congrats to Clint Bowyer and the 2 crew as well). Scott Wimmer earned himself a very well deserved victory at Nashville last weekend. Good to see a non-Cup driver finally pull into the winner's circle in a Nationwide Series race. On a personal note, I get to experience one of my serveral 'Dad' moments when I take my 4 year old to his 1st race at Texas Motor Speedway next weekend! I'm not sure who is more excited, me or him! Ever since our tickets came in the mail 2 days ago I have answered the question, 'Daddy, is it time to go see Junior yet?' or I hear 'C'mon Daddy, we gotta go the race and see .....JUNIOR!' . Now, close your eyes and imagine a 4 year old boy saying this while jumping up and down with his fists in the air like he's in victory lane....got it? Still laughing? Well, here's to a great race at Martinsville this weekend, until next time!

3/9/08-Well, well, we're only 3 weeks into the season and the drama is already in high gear! Big congrats to Ryan Newman and the 12 crew on a great Daytona win! Who ever shot Carl Edwards out of the cannon the last 2 weeks deserves a raise. Aside from the oil lid controversy, he's been on rails. Of course, everyone knows I'm a bit partial, big thumbs up to Dale Jr. and the 88 team! That 1st win with Hendrick is right around the corner. As usual the Truck Series has provided some great racing and finishes the last few weeks. The Nationwide Series, though the racing has been pretty good, is still dominated by Cup drivers. It is nice to see the bottom half of the top 10 filled with Nationwide regulars though! I've got to take this opportunity to lobby Speed Channel, get 'The Humpy Show' signed! I love it! For those of you not familiar, H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler, president of Lowes' Motor Speedway and possibly the greatest racing promoter in history, aired the pilot for 'The Humpy Show' during Speedweeks at Daytona. He paired Buddy Baker with Kurt Busch for some no B.S., cut to the chase type discussion/interviews. Another show I'm hooked to on Speed is 'Tradin' Paint'. It pits Kyle Petty against a member of the media to take on current topics in NASCAR. Well gang, until next time, here's to some more great racin'!

Take care,

Jason

1/24/08-Ahhh, the brink of a new season. As with any season, there is change. This year's Cup line-up comes with LOADS of changes. 14 teams will start the season with new drivers alone. Add in the crew chief , manufacturer , and sponsor changes and you've got yourself one great big ball of confusion at Daytona if you haven't been following the "off"-season (that is if you can call 2 1/2 months and off-season). I'm really looking forward to a great year of racing. The Truck and Busch/Nationwide Series should provide some of the best racing of the year as well. The influx of open-wheel drivers should prove to be interesting. It's nice to finally see the rest of the world take us "Rednecks racing in circles" seriously! I plan to keep my topics this season based more on racing and less on my personal opinion. Will you still hear my opinions from time to time? Oh yeah, it's still a free country! I promise to bash Jeff, Jimmie, and Tony less this year. I know the 2 or 3 of you that read my columns last year probably thought you were reading a repeat race report week after week. Before any of you jump to any conclusions, none of this is because Dale Jr. is now a member of Hendrick Motorsports. I will still wish flat tires and mangles sheet metal on Jeff, Jimmie, & Tony EVERY week! Again, sorry for the delay in updating the site. I'll do my best to keep up again this season. With a newborn daughter and a 4 year old son, I can make no gurantees! Family take precidence over racing!

Y'all take care,

Jason
